The Nürtingen-Geislingen University of Economics and the Environment (HfWU) stands for sustainable development. Qualification
According to Section 17 Paragraph 3 of the State Higher Education Act (LHG), anyone who works full-time as a professor at the university or who has completed a university education and who, based on several years of managerial professional activity, particularly in science, art, business, administration or the legal system, can be expected to be able to handle the duties of the office can be appointed as rector.

Task
The Nürtingen-Geislingen University of Economics and the Environment is a legal entity under public law and a state institution. The rector represents the university externally, is chair of the rectorate with policy-making authority, of the senate and its committees. The tasks arise in detail from the Baden-Württemberg State Higher Education Act (LHG).
We are looking for an integrative leader with the ability to innovate and act strategically, who will consistently continue the path of participatory leadership successfully taken at the HfWU. The Rector is expected to drive the further profile of the university in the field of "sustainable development" together with the members of the university in teaching, research and administration. The regional, national and international networks and cooperations should be maintained and continuously developed.
Applications are expected from people who are familiar with the tasks and methods of modern university management and who have experience in university policy. A proven commitment to applied science and research in a subject area that corresponds to the university's profile is desired. For this leadership role, persuasiveness, assertiveness, the ability to work in a team and communication skills are required.

Application Process
The Rector is elected in accordance with Section 18 Paragraph 2 of the LHG in a joint meeting of the University Council and Senate. The nomination requires the consent of the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts of Baden-Württemberg. The appointment is made by the Prime Minister of the State of Baden-Württemberg for a term of office of six to eight years (Section 17 Paragraph 2 of the State Higher Education Act) in a temporary civil service position, unless a fixed-term employment relationship is established by contract. Re-election is possible. Salaries are based on the Baden-Württemberg State Salary Act (salary group W3), plus a functional performance-related salary to be determined by the University Council.
